CREATE A SWAP-O-RAMA-RAMA IN YOUR COMMUNITY
Before you contact me and tell me you'd like to produce a Swap-O-Rama-Rama, here are a few details to help you understand how Swap-O-Rama-Rama works.
WHO MAY PRODUCE SORR?
Non-Profits and individuals who wish to bring the event (as described below) to their community. Swap-O-Rama-Rama is free to you!
WHO MUST HAVE EXPRESSED PERMISSION or PAY A LICENSE FEE TO USE SORR?
For profit entities and corporations are excluded from using Swap-O-Rama-Rama unless they are given specific permission by me. There are some like-minded, for profit groups that I do give permission to. First I research the company to be sure they have fair and environmentally sound practices. For profit entities who receive approval are required to pay a tax deductible fee for their use of Swap-O-Rama-Rama.
ARE YOU SURE IT'S A SWAP-O-RAMA-RAMA YOU WISH TO PRODUCE?
* Will your event have ways to modify used clothing such as sewing, demonstrations, or do-it-yourself workshops?
* Will your event cost no more than $10 + a bag of clothing ($5 is recommended if your budget allows)?
* Will there be nothing for sale once in the event? Remember SORR is an autonomous zone, no commerce once inside. It's not a flea market and it's not a craft fair. There can be nothing for sale at your event.
* Are you willing to have no mirrors at the event. This helps people meet and make new friends. At SORR we turn to one another, we are each others mirrors.
* Will you property credit the event (see creative commons license below)?
If you've answered YES to all of the above than you DO want to produce a SWAP-O-RAMA-RAMA! CONGRATULATIONS!
HOW IT WORKS
As a Swap-O-Rama-Rama producer, while your producing your event you are part of a non-profit organization called Swap-O-Rama-Rama. You may use this to help you to attain donations (up to a certain amount) of materials and support from your local community while offering givers tax deductible receipts for their generosity.
At different times Swap-O-Rama-Rama has different sponsors. We've had sewing machines loaned to each event, silk screen machines given and a variety of other goodies to help you make a wonderful event for your community. Since this changes all the time you'll need to check in and see what's being offered at the time of your event.
As a Swap-O-Rama-Rama producer you will be given a host of artwork, text, email announcement text, photos, press releases, etc.. everything you need to promote your event.
Your event will also be listed both on the Swap-O-Rama-Rama web site and the New York Foundation for the Arts events page.
I hope to soon be able to supply you with "100% Modified BY ME" clothing labels to cover existing branding. We'll see how the fundraising goes.
Lastly, you get me here to help, train and guide you in areas you may need help in. : )
CREATIVE COMMONS LICENSE
Swap-O-Rama-Rama uses a Creative Commons License that allows for sharing with the world community while excluding for profit entities, corporations (without expressed permission) and big changes to the structure of the event.
If you become a Swap-O-Rama-Rama producer you will be responsible for carrying this license through the below icon and text which must appear on all of your promotional materials (flyers, web site, text/emails, press releases).

The best way to begin is to write to me with a bit about yourself and your motivation to produce a Swap-O-Rama-Rama. It's a good idea to list relevant skills and also determine what size event you think you'll be aiming to produce. We'll take it from there. . . If you are not totally pooped from reading all this, the Swap-O-Rama-Rama CREDO, that is inspiration to create it, can be found here: CREDO. I do always say that for any worthy endeavor, philosophy must come first. And I do recommend you read it.
Many many thanks for bringing your inspiration to SWAP-O-RAMA-RAMA! I'm looking forward to meeting you and I'm thrilled to continue to help all of our communities grow.
Ciao for now,
